Investment & grant case

A hard-asset, permit-advantaged entry into Baltic aquaculture.

Swedish Fish Farm is raising capital to build and validate its first closed units. We are structuring a blend of venture capital, family office equity and public innovation and EU blue economy grants.

Unit economics

Why the cost base holds up at scale.

CAPEX per unit, not per plant

Capacity arrives in discrete steel modules. Capital is committed as licences and demand land, instead of in one pre-revenue construction programme.

No land, no water rights

Sea siting removes land acquisition, groundwater rights and heavy civil works — the largest and least recoverable cost items in land-based projects.

OPEX led by feed, not power

At roughly 1 kWh per kilo, energy stops being a swing factor. With no delousing and no handling campaigns, labour and treatment costs fall with it.

40-year asset life

Marine steel depreciates over decades rather than years, and units are repairable and relocatable — a real residual value for lenders.

Roadmap

From licence to commercial scale in four phases.

  1. Phase 1

    Licensing & permitting

Site selection across the four markets, environmental assessment, and licence applications built on the zero-escape, zero-discharge case.

  2. Phase 2

    Pilot facility

First Hexacage units. Validate growth rates, mortality, energy intensity and sludge capture against the model under real Baltic conditions.

  3. Phase 3

    Regional expansion

Replicate the validated unit into Finnish archipelago sites, with Estonian fabrication carrying build cost down the learning curve.

  4. Phase 4

    Commercial scale

Multi-site modular build-out with processing and offtake partnerships, financed with a blended structure of equity, debt and grant co-financing.

ESG & grant readiness

Reporting built for grant officers, not retrofitted for them.

Public funders need measurable environmental additionality. Closed containment produces it as a by-product of how the system runs.

Environment

Zero escapes, zero chemical treatments, solids captured for reuse, no added Baltic nutrient load.

Social

Coastal jobs in fabrication, operations and processing; domestic protein supply in four EU jurisdictions.

Governance

Per-unit production data, third-party welfare auditing and transparent grant-grade reporting from day one.
